Asa Akira is an American adult film actress, writer and director of Japanese descent from New York, active since 2006. In 2013 she co-hosted the 30th AVN Awards and won AVN Female Performer of the Year that night, the third Asian performer to do so. The same year she made her directing debut for Elegant Angel and signed an exclusive contract with Wicked Pictures.
Outside adult film she wrote the memoirs Insatiable (Grove Press, 2014) and Dirty Thirty (Cleis Press, 2016), co-hosted the DVDASA podcast with artist David Choe, hosted the 2016 reality show The Sex Factor and appeared as herself on Family Guy in 2017.
